Writing

Writer’s Workshop

Writer’s Workshop has the same format as Reader’s Workshop with a short mini lesson, a good block of time to write and then is finished up with students sharing something new they learned or noticed in their writing that day.

As well as Writer’s Workshop, student’s write across the entire curriculum.  When they do Reader’s Workshop, or sit down to read, they are asked to write about what they are reading.  In math they write about math topics and explain their reasoning.  In science and social studies students write their observations, and the steps they took to complete an experiment. They will also take notes in both social studies and science.  We are constantly writing and editing our work for the conventions of grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc.
